The NEWSWEEK cover of the March 5, 1962 issue featured John Glenn who was the first American to orbit the Earth in a spacecraft. Contents of the magazine included a detailed description of John Glenn's space flight. The largest television audience of that time, 135 million, watched the launch of Friendship 7 on February 20, 1962 on its three orbit flight.
