The above text, found in a school library of fourth and fifth graders, is a
treasure of information about the origin and future of space technology.
The manned orbital craft shown in the cover painting is an excellent example
of a personal launch system (PLS). The technology depicted above became
very appropriate in the 1990s with the need to ferry astronauts to the
Internation Space Station.
