GALLERY OF SPACE PULP MAGAZINES
AMAZING STORIES (Oct. 1948), Copyright, 1948, by Ziff-Davis Publishing Company
DISCUSSION
The advancement of space exploration owes much to the pulp publications of
the 1930s and later decades. Though much of the described space technology
and artwork was scientifically incorrect,
the stories and paintings
excited the imagination of the nation. This led to expectation that one day
technology would put a man on the Moon. The above cover is an example of
the vivid "cover-art" of the pulps. The rocket design is in question. It
appears as a fuel tank atop rocket engines with no compartment for
passengers or cargo.
