SPACE:1999 POCKET NOVEL BREAKAWAY (circa 1975)

DISCUSSION
The premise of the movie SPACE:1999 is the explosion of an atomic waste
stockpile on the farside of the Moon. So powerful is the explosion that
Earth's satellite becomes a "world in space" on an unknown destination with
its 311 inhabitants of Moonbase Alpha. The chance that any person could
survive such a devastating blast is as remote as the likelihood that any of
Jules Verne's passengers lived through blast off of his COLUMBIAD cannon.
